It’s Getting Closer

July 7, 2008

Sorry for being so quiet on the blog. Life, on the other hand, has not been so quiet. Busy fundraising season at work. A move. Vacation. Sickness. Now we are mowing the back 40 on Alex’s deployment. Hurray! Temperatures rise into the 120′s. It’s hot and humid in Louisiana in the summer, but I’ve quit complaining after Alex tells me the temp over there. Alex and his crew had a fun day for their halfway party. They enjoyed the day off and played softball and horseshoes and cooked out. He has been working extremely long days doing hard work. We are so very proud of him!

One more week

May 21, 2008

Oh, for the day when it’s one more week until HOME!! Ha! But one more week until halfway through, it pretty good. Alex has been busy…reallybusy. But they are enjoying some quality PT with soccer playing, frisbee throwing, running, and all before the work day. He is busy studying for a warfare pin. Chest candy, he calls it. :) All is well and thank you for your prayers!

Two Months

April 30, 2008

I wouldn’t go as far to say it’s flying by, but time is passing. Alex says a bunch has been going on over there, so please say a prayer for his group if you think about it. And Lord, have mercy- the sandstorms!! Seems like every time I hear from Alex, he’s waiting out a sandstorm. Blech! He says the taste never gets out of your mouth, and the after the storm, you spend the next day cleaning up.

I Got You, Babe

April 24, 2008

Well, I just got back from a work conference in Dallas and Cher was in our hotel. Don’t know if she actually stayed overnight but she was in the hotel one day we were there because she was making an appearance or giving a concert or something. Our group was more impressed with Eduardo Verastegui, former telenovela star and current star of “Bella”, which releases on DVD May 6th.

Alex says it’s getting hotter by the minute over in the desert. Anyone have any tips for staying cool and keeping hydrated? Alot has been going on where he is, so if you remember, please say a prayer for him.

It’s hard to believe that we are working on month 2. Time is ticking by. Trying to stay busy to help it seem like that anyway. :)

It’s Been Awhile

April 16, 2008

Thanks for the comments..Alex appreciates them as well:) Well, it’s been awhile since it’s an update. It’s hot, hot and STILL hot in Iraq:) Between Easter, a major fundraiser at my work, best friend’s wedding, and work conference, things are rolling along at home. Alex is hanging in there in the desert. He actually got some hail last week. Of course, the sandstorms are a bother. Does anybody know of an excellent lotion for dry skin? It won’t be this long again until an update. Thanks for hanging in there with this. :)

Week TWO

March 19, 2008

I wish I could figure out pictures, because this week, Alex’s group caught a two foot lizard in their work space. Yikes! He emailed a picture, and it’s crazy looking. Alex has survived two sandstorms this week and continues to report on excellent food. At home, it’s the beginning of spring. Everything is blooming and allergies abound.

Week ONE

March 13, 2008

Safe travel+surprise late night phone call+good food on base+making lemonade at home= survived first week. Alex reported that he’s eaten steak and lobster for dinner and homemade pancakes for breakfast. Hmm..that’s better than home. DSCF3049.JPG

I have some pictures. I’m trying to figure out sizing issues! I miss my computer help;)
